Meet our Youth Exchange Student
Each year the Club sponsors an International student for a school year. The student attends a local high school. He local students learn so much from the international student. Then too, the Club members also get educated as he/she visits our club regularly. Many times the parents visit us and see our Club and our City. All in all, this project adds – even if just a little - towards world understanding and world peace. This year we are so pleased to learn about Germany as we host Thomas Kaufmann
Our exchange student Thomas Kaufmann, from Ehingen, Baden-Wurttemberg,
Germany arrived on the 20th of August. He turned 16
on September 25th, 2009. His father is a radiologist and his mom is a nurse.
He has two older siblings: an 18 year old brother and an 20 year old sister.
He also has a dog whom he loves to care for. Thomas is currently staying
with Lori Fritz and her son Isaac on 27 Parade Street. He speaks rather
good English.
Thomas is interested in music (he plays the piano). He prefers rock music to
modern or classical. He is interested in science, photography, art, astronomy, and skiing.
He is not into sports (other than skiing) but he does have an interest in Tae Kwon Do.
He does not have allergies but does not like spinach or cabbage. He
enjoys the outdoors but does not like mosquitoes or flies flying around
his head. He said he would like to sail, go whale watching and whatever
we have to offer in this region.
In the future, he would like to study aerospace engineering or possibly
architecture.
