On June 2, 2026, the Rotary Club of St. John's Northwest welcomed guest speaker Dr. Rick Bhatia, who presented on “The Journey of a Lung Cancer Patient.”
Dr. Bhatia shared that a dedicated team of specialists from various departments meets every Monday to review newly identified tumor cases in patients and determine the best course of treatment for each patient.
He also explained the differences between MRI, CT (CAT) scans, and PET scans, and how each plays an important role in providing a precise diagnosis or guiding further diagnostic testing when needed , and provided updated statistics on the number of cases of lung cancer diagnosed each year in NL
His presentation was engaging, compelling, and insightful, providing attendees with a greater understanding of the collaborative approach and advanced technology used in lung cancer diagnosis and care in NL.
