Healthy Child Development: Supporting Parents Online - A Hi Innovation Project

Parents and families enjoy parenting, but sometimes find it challenging to manage their child’s behavior and provide them with the best support. Parenting practices are the strongest modifiable determinant of behavioral and emotional health in children. Parents want credible online information and support when they need it. Staff at Eastern Health know that the positive health impact of supporting parents and families early will last a lifetime.

In October of 2019, Eastern Health's Population & Public Health department launched the Hi website (hi.easternhealth.ca) – the go-to place for health and wellness information for people of all ages. The website currently houses over 200 pages of information on wellness topics like healthy eating, parenting, sexual health, and physical activity. In this project, EH wants to work with community partners, tech experts, and parents/families to empower parents, support healthy child development, and make services more accessible. Enhancing Hi with Artificial Intelligence, polls, blogs, and other interactive tools in an innovative, engaging format will make this a reality.

In this session, Eastern Health will share the vision for this Hi Innovation project and welcomes the opportunity to continue the conversation on a potential Rotary partnership.
