Perchance Theatre

Perchance Theatre at Cupids (formerly New World Theatre Project) is Newfoundland and Labrador’s only professional, classical theatre company.  It was established in 2010 as part of the Cupids 400 Celebrations and remains based between St. John’s, the capital city, and Cupids, NL.

Until the pandemic hit, the outdoor theatre was #1 of 6 the most unique ways to experience Shakespeare in Canada, as named by UK in Canada Magazine.

When the doors were shut in 2020, the digital series The Power of One served as a pandemic project to keep Perchance in the public eye serving classical text to an entirely new digital audience.  The project was a hit! Not only did it create 62 employment opportunities for artists during a global shut down of the theatre industry, it is showcasing both the Province’s talent and its unique spaces -reaching 15K – 49K views per monologue!

The Power of One continues the strong tradition of the power of words coming alive for all ages and all walks of life, as it should be.
